Southlander Quake Webster is returning for his fourth season with the Southland Sharks in the 2025 Sal’s New Zealand national Basketball League.
After originally bring selected as a training partner in 2022, Webster has earned full roster status over the last two years and has impressed his new Head Coach, Jonathan Yim with his work since arriving in Invercargill.
“I’m excited to welcome back Quake. Since arriving in Invercargill, I’ve been really impressed by his approach and basketball IQ. He sees the game at a high level and puts in the work every day. His commitment to improving is evident, and I know he’s ready to take another step in his game this season.”
“Quake brings shotmaking, playmaking, and a tough, physical defensive mindset to every workout. He competes on both ends, embraces challenges, and is constantly pushing himself to get better. I can’t wait to see it all come together this season,” Yim said.
Webster has continued to grow his role within the programme over the past three years and sees real alignment with his style and that of Coach Yim.
“I’m just very grateful to be back with the Sharks this year and very excited to have Jonathan as a coach. From my conversations with him I think I’m going to fit in very well with his system.”
“My off-season focus has been on getting into shape to be ready to go for this pre-season and I really want to make an impact with this team and of course get some wins for our amazing Sharks Fans!” Webster said.
Webster and the Sharks tip off their season in Dunedin against the Otago Nuggets on Friday 14 March with their first of eleven home games against Manawatu Jets on Saturday 29 March. Season tickets are on sale now from ILT Stadium Southland or online at sharksbasketball.flicket.co.nz.
