For the first time in its 14-year history, the Southland Sharks are on the search for a full-time General Manager.
The new role which is to be advertised next week, will look to continue the club's proud history in the New Zealand National Basketball League and will work alongside the current contracted team of Operations Manager Jill Bolger and Commercial Manager Nick Jeffrey, who will both continue in roles with the Sharks.
Sharks Basketball Chair David Simpson said it was a big step for the Sharks to make, designed to resource the continued growth of the organisation.
"Our team has done a fabulous job in part-time or contract roles. They have gone over and above to put us in the position we are today. With where the Sal's NBL is going, we need to make sure we are resourced appropriately on and off the court and to capture the growth ahead for the Sharks and the League," Simpson said.
"Jill has been there since day one, previously in her role with Southland Basketball managing the Sharks and more recently in a direct part-time capacity and her knowledge, experience and connections are vital for the Sharks and she, Nick and the rest of our Board can't wait to get to work on what will be an exciting next chapter," he said.
