In another strong move for the Sal's NBL, two new faces have been added to the National Basketball League Limited (NBLL) Board with Southland Sharks General Manager Jill Bolger and former Tall Black and NBL star Dillon Boucher joining the now 7-member group.
"It's a really good move for the League, both Jill and Dillon bring a wealth of experience and further skill sets to an already active and progressive board," said Sal's NBL General Manager, Justin Nelson, adding "It's a pleasure to welcome them at a time when the League is advancing on the back of increased participation and support for the game right across the country."
For Bolger, the opportunity to continue driving the Sal's NBL forward is something she is looking forward to.
"I’m really excited to part of the NBLL Board at a time when there are signs that the League is going forward in a really positive and professional way. The current Board has recently adopted the 2023 Growth Strategy and standards are being set to ensure that the League has a consistent and visible presence in the New Zealand sporting scene. I’m looking forward to being part of it and hopefully adding value to the Board," said Bolger.
For Boucher, who continues to transition into day-to-day professional life off the court, playing an active role in a League he has served so well as a player is an exciting step.
“I am excited to be joining the NBLL Board and I look forward to playing a role in taking the League that I played in for 25 seasons forward and helping to deliver on the recently adopted 2023 Growth Strategy. This is an exciting time for basketball in this country and the Sal's NBL plays a big part in the growth of the sport," said Boucher.
The 2019 Sal's NBL season tips-off on Thursday April 11.
