Former Junior Tall Blacks Skipper Signs For Southland

Impressive guard Dion Prewster has confirmed he will play for the Zero Fees Southland Sharks next season in the Bartercard National Basketball League.

Prewster, who captained the Junior Tall Blacks after first making the team at the age of 14, was born in the USA but moved to Wellington with his family when he was seven.

He went back to the USA and played high school basketball in Iowa and college ball in California.

“Dion is a very talented player who has shown his ability from a very early age,” Sharks general manager Jill Bolger said of the 21-year-old.

“We were very lucky to secure him as other franchises were after his signature. “

The 1.92m Prewster joins a Sharks lineup that is getting stronger by the day.

“We have a good solid core of players now with Dion’s signing,” said Bolger.  “We just have a few spots to fill, but we’re rapt with the way the team is coming together.”
